The Rebel’s Mark Book Review

Near death in Delkara, and sought by a reckless and cruel lord who had unlawfully branded him a thief, Gage’s story didn’t look hopeful as the second Marked book began. Against all odds, a knight formerly a part of his retinue, Sir Wick, comes to bring Gage home by command of his brother. Suspense abounds and mystery lurks behind each corner in this second installment of the Marked Series by Given Hoffman. Will Gage and Sir Wick ever make it safely back to Edelmar? Will Gage ever be able to face the pain of the past so that he can redeem the future? The Rebel’s Mark may leave you wondering, but do not despair! Given Hoffman is releasing the third book, The Healer’s Secret soon, which is being eagerly awaited by her fans. (Of which I am a loyal part of!)

Given Hoffman displays her talent as an author clearly in The Rebel’s Mark. Her plot is realistic and yet a true adventure story. Characters in Given Hoffman’s books are not simply people on a page, through her words they come alive. One thing that I loved in The Rebel’s Mark  is the dual storyline. The introduction of Princess Rhondalyn to the story keys readers in to the fact that the unrest and rebellion that Gage had been affected by was not central to Edelmar or Delkara alone. Rather, Hoffman draws the reader upward and further into a deeper plot which she reveals to be far larger than it first appeared as.
